Introduction

The following is a transcription of the book's Introduction page narrated past Gex:

"GEX here. Deep Cover GEX, to you.

I've stopped doing my favorite thing in the entire world--watching Television set--long enough to welcome you lot to this dynamite book. If you've followed my adventures as a secret agent, pirate, robot, mobster, army guy, kung fu star, and--well, the list of my talents goes on and on--and so yous're gonna dearest this book, infant!

You'll learn how to draw me and many of my enemies--both head shots and tail-slamming action pictures. You'll describe me as Individual GEX every bit I battle The Sarge ("Lock and load up--on enough of paper, little lizard!"), Long John GEX as I foursquare off against Skeleton Pirate ("Arrgh, me mateys, exist sure to sharpen ye pencils!"), GEX Capone against Lenny Mobster ("This is a rubout--apply your eraser if yous make a mistake!") and RoboGEX equally I confront a final confrontation with my ultimate enemy, that mechanical psycho, Rez ("You'll transform--into a neat artist!").

Now, don't worry if your drawings aren't perfect the commencement time--it's déjà-describe all once more. In other words, continue practicing! In less time than it takes to shout "Information technology'due south tail time!" y'all'll be drawing facial expressions, putting characters in action, and making upwardly your own adventures in the Media Dimension.

My favorite kung fu motion picture--The Nine Nasty Ninjas vs. Full general Chang'south Radioactive Chickens--is nearly to start. Just before I go hunker down with my beloved remote control and a big bowl total of crunchy flies, hither are a few things to keep in mind as y'all make your way through this crawly book:

one. Depict lightly as you sketch. You lot'll have enough of time to darken your lines as you finish your cartoon and fill in the details.

two. Stay loose! Let your hand and arm move freely. Don't grip your pencil like you lot're trying to crush Rez! Drawing should exist relaxing and fun.

3. Don't worry near mistakes--that's why erasers were invented!

4. Do, and be patient. Information technology takes time to become expert at drawing. So grab your pencil and get started. I'm outta here, baby!"
